Are you A Burdens-Hearer, Burden-Sharer Or Burden-Bearer? Part 1
Bible verses: Galatians 6:2 KJV “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.”
Relational Insights
There is a saying that says “A problem or burden shared is half solved”. There is a story of a Christian woman I heard that has couple of friends and they have been friends for several years. These friends were very transparent and truthful with her. They usually share their burdens, secrets and fears with her, she will then encourage and prayed with her friends. However, these friends expected her to also share her burdens with them, so as to encourage and pray with her, however she will not reveal her secrets or burdens with her friends.
After several years, her friends realised she is only interested in their affairs and secrets, however not transparent and very secretive with her own affairs. Gradually their friendship fell apart and they eventually became acquaintances.
Our scripture verse today in Galatians 6:2, encourages us to bear one another’s burdens. Also the Bible says in Proverbs 18:24; “ A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.”
Even Our Lord Jesus Christ despite being a Burden-Hearer and Burden-Bearer was also a Burden-Sharer. Remember Jesus Christ shared His burdens with his friends (disciples) in Matthew 26:38, when in the garden of Gethsemane he was burdened and requested his disciples to keep watch with him.
Can I encourage you reading this devotional today that if Jesus can share his burdens with his disciples (friends) and asked them to bear the burden with him in prayers, you also need to ask to God for these three attributes to become A burden-hearer, Burden-sharer and Burden-bearer and so fulfil the law of Christ.
Prayer Outlines
Lord Jesus Christ, you are a friend that stick closer than a brother, I ask in faith today that you bestow upon me these three attributes of yours in your Holy Name I pray. Amen
