Looking Precedes Healing
Bible verses: Acts 3:3-8 KJV “Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.”
I was amazed the first time I heard a saying in British tradition, that “it’s rude to stare”. Which means when you look intently at someone, you are regarded as a rude person. This is because it’s the opposite of what I learnt while growing up in my culture that “you can not win an argument that someone stared at you”.
While reflecting on today’s scripture verses of Peter asking the lame man to “look at them” and when the man looked with intention to receive money (alms) from them, he received an unexpected healing greater than the money he was asking for.
Can I encourage you reading this devotional today to begin an intentional looking into the word of God. When you look into the perfect law of liberty, James 1:25 KJV “But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” Indeed blessings shall be yours in Jesus Christ. Amen
My Lord Jesus Christ, as I renewed my commitment to intentional looking into the perfect law of liberty, I receive my indeed blessings in your Holy Name. Amen.
