Going Up to Eat or Going Up to Pray?
Bible verse: 1 Kings 18:42 “So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,”
Reflections
Food is necessary for development in children and maintaining good health in adults. However, despite the importance of food, there are some downsides of eating excessively and the effects of it to human health. Examples of such is Obesity and 13% of the world population has been found to be obese.
Also as Christians, The Bible condemned excessive eating as “Gluttony”.  “For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.” Proverbs‬ ‭23:21‬ ‭KJV ‬‬. Also in Philippians 3:19, “Whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things”.
Food was responsible Esau lost of his birthright to Jacob  his Brother.
Our scripture verse today is about Ahab going up to eat and Elijah going up to pray. Please note that they both “went up”, however to do different things. Elijah going up to Mount Carmel to pray produces a miracle of rain that the country lacks for over three years but we were not informed the result of Ahab “going up to eat”.
Can I encourage you reading this devotional today that, going up to pray is more important than going up to eat, and this season why not determine to increase your going up to pray like Elijah and your desired miracles shall be yours in Jesus Christ name.
Prayer Outlines
Father God, this season I ask and receive your help to increase my going up to pray for to receive my desired miracle in Jesus Christ name. Amen
